Closing the Gap

While 1 in 5 students struggles with dyslexia, most bilingual children in the U.S. and abroad lack access to reading programs that are both scientifically grounded and linguistically authentic.

Here’s the problem:

  • Most existing interventions are direct translations of English programs — not built for the way Spanish is actually acquired.

  • Bilingual students often face delayed diagnoses, misaligned interventions, or are pulled out of class, missing vital learning time.

  • Teachers lack practical, culturally relevant tools to support reading development in the classroom, especially at early stages.

  • Specialists in Dyslexia often are out the classroom professionals.

LAJAM is changing that.

We’ve created a curriculum from the ground up — in Spanish — that supports all learners while embedding dyslexia-informed strategies from the start. Our approach keeps students in general education classrooms, builds foundational literacy skills early, and equips educators with the tools they need to make inclusion real.
